Zone3 was founded in 2007 by James Lock, a very good swimmer and world champion with the amateurs on the Aquathlon. To give his triathlon career a boost, he developed his own wetsuit. He was able to use many facilities because he was still studying at the University of Loughborough at the time. The entire Research & Development department helped to develop this first zone3 wetsuit. He eventually developed this wetsuit further and put it on the market commercially.
