Maurten's Hydrogel Technology introduced endurance athletes to a new way of carbohydrate intake when it was launched in 2015. It removed the barriers of how much carbohydrate scientists thought an athlete could ingest during intense training and competition. Simply put, it changed endurance sports and helped rewrite the record books. With Solid 225 and 225 C, the Swedish brand launches its first non-Hydrogel product. It may look like a bar, feel like a bar and taste like a bar - but it is definitely not your average bar. This is Solid.

"We are the Solid-project as we do with every new product - we looked at the science. And when we compared the findings with what was available on the market for athletes, there was a void," says Olof Sköld, CEO of Maurten. "Most 'energy bars' were nothing more than candy bars designed for snack appeal."

Solid 225 and 225 C are reinvented by removing everything but the essentials. The result is a performance chewable tablet based on oats and rice - a fast and light carbohydrate-rich, low-fiber fuel.

"With Solid we decided that if we make a bar that is good enough for an elite cyclist or top marathon athlete, it should also be good enough for all athletes," says Olof Sköld. "When we started getting feedback from our sponsored teams and athletes, they were excited about our prototype. They tell us they crave a back-to-basics bar that gives them those fast carbohydrates.

The Maurten Solid-range has two versions. Solid 225 is sweet and neutral. Solid 225 C contains cocoa and provides a flavor alternative or flavor reset during training or racing. Each Solid contains 225 calories and 44 g of carbohydrates.

"We developed Solids based on our founding principles: science, the athlete, nutrition and innovative performance," says Olof Sköld. "It's 0% Hydrogel, 100% Maurten. We think it will make people think about what a solid fuel source looks and tastes like."
