Like many children, Julian began his sports career on the soccer field. But as often happens, blood goes where it can't go: father was an avid triathlete and at age eleven Julian went along to encourage his father in the Ironman 70.3 Luxembourg. A new passion was born.

That the inspiration was not short-lived his parents soon realized. Julian got a bike for his birthday and joined the swimming club. He still played soccer on the side, but soon the training regime with three extra sports became too much. Triathlon it had to be!

The young athlete joined at age 13e to the LAB C training group in Utrecht, where he is trained by, among others, the experienced Peter Res. "For now, I am focusing mainly on the sprint distance. I have now been allowed to do an Olympic Distance once and hope to continue to develop and grow to the level of the NTC."

So Julian is progressing well and, at 17 years old, represents the future in the diverse mix of ASW athletes. "Ideally, I would like to make triathlon my job and reach the real top. With the goal of the WTCS races and who knows the Olympics," he dares to dream aloud.

After a 4e place at the National Junior Sprint Championships on the weekend of June 11, his program for 2023 looks as follows:

02-07 Junior Cup Holten

European Cup races elsewhere in Europe
