As endurance athletes, our body produces strength through aerobic metabolism. Aerobic metabolism requires oxygen-rich blood to flow to the muscles. This means that if you are not well hydrated during exercise, you are not performing at your best. If you do not keep your body fluids moving quickly during your training or competition, your heart rate may remain stable (or even rise), but blood flow will drop (known as " Cardiac Drift ").
