Hessel Dreteler - Triathlete with a mission
After a rowing career as a Economics student, I started running in 2013. I thought cycling was fun, so also occasionally on the road bike. I could not swim, but a triathlon seemed very nice to me. In the summer of 2013 I took a number of swimming lessons, to be at the start of my first triathlon in 2014 (Triathlon New-West in Amsterdam). That same season I completed my first half triathlon with Ironman 70.3 Zell am See-Kaprun; what a special experience that was!
Since then I have done several triathlons at home and abroad. A recent highlight here was the completion of Challenge Almere in 2016; heavy but so awesome! Partly because I had to leave two months earlier due to illness during Ironman UK this was a wonderful "comeback race".
This season, in addition to the division games at triathlon club ASU '11, two important competitions are on the program. On 3 July I will start Challenge The Championship in Šamorín, Slovakia and on 9 September I will start again Challenge Almere, which will host the European Long Distance Triathlon Championship this year.
I try my sports as best as possible to plan my job. At Dutch Green Company ( www.dutchgreencompany.nl ) I am concerned with the sustainability of buildings. I advise in adjusting the lighting to the self-generation of solar energy; everything is covered. In this way I try to contribute to a healthier world.
See you soon!
