  1. Eat four to five times a portion of 20-25 grams of protein per day. Try to do this every two or three hours. 200 ml of curd, two slices of bread with egg or cheese or yogurt with 200 ml of 3 tablespoons muesli you deliver approximately this amount. Do you eat only vegetable protein? Mik than 25-30 grams at a time.

  2. Take a slightly larger portion of protein before you go to sleep. Evening is the time for recovery. The night is the recovery time for your body. You want to take it up 0.5 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight in the last hour before bed. Choose slow absorbing protein as found in curd (known as casein protein). Milk contains mainly fast absorbing protein: whey.

  3. Vary the type of protein you eat. Protein consists of several building blocks: amino acids. Nine of the twenty amino acids are essential. This means that we must get from our diet. By combining different types of protein are you sure you're getting all the essential amino acids. Eggs are otherwise a very good source of protein. They contain all the amino acids and deliver an egg about 7 grams of protein.

  4. Vegetable protein is fine. You do not need chicken, fish or steak. Although also good sources of protein you can do without. Just make sure that you make for good combinations of protein. Wholemeal bread with peanut butter (or other nut butter), brown rice with legumes or lentils with bulgur can deliver the whole spectrum of amino acids.

  5. Forget your carbohydrates. Protein is very important indeed. But more is not always better. You also carbohydrates and fats needed to restore stay healthy and well. Carbohydrate-rich products can also deliver important vitamins and fiber for instance. More than 2 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight you do not need.
